Ellen Möckel’s artistic practice, which is predominantly characterised by printmaking, explores grids, systems of order and their influence on analogue life and digital imagery. At its heart lies the question of how orientation and disorientation arise within established boundaries.

In 2025, EM was awarded second prize by BiMA for its entry in the ‘Art in Architecture’ competition for the Rostock University of Applied Sciences.
- Since then, alongside her freelance artistic work and her role at Suhrkamp Verlag – where Ellen has been responsible for book cover design since 2020 – she has undertaken further projects, including work for the DKFZ in Dresden.
She completed her "Meisterschüler" at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig in 2021.
- supervised in Fine Arts by Prof. Michael Riedel from 2019 to 2021.
In 2021, she was awarded the Kickstarter grant by the Kunstfonds Foundation in Bonn.
- At the same time, he took on a number of smaller teaching assignments at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, and the Evening School at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig.
She also holds a diploma in Graphic Design and Book Arts from the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig.

An 8 months stay at the workshop of Niels Borch Jensen took place in Copenhagen, Denmark.
